Why is Chocolate Dangerous for Dogs?
Chocolate contains a compound called theobromine, which dogs metabolize much slower than humans. What is a treat for us can be toxic for them.
The severity of toxicity depends on the dog's weight, the type of chocolate (cocoa powder and dark chocolate are the most dangerous), and the amount ingested.
Symptoms of Chocolate Poisoning:
- Vomiting, diarrhea
- Restlessness, panting
- Rapid heart rate
- Muscle tremors
- Seizures in severe cases
